Record the program video
Explain P-TECH IT to an 8th grader and their family in 60 to 90 seconds. Your video can appear on the home page so the next class hears about the program from a student.
Before you record
- Your parent or guardian's PGCPS media release must be on file. Nothing is posted without it.
- Say your first name and grade only. No last name, student ID, address or phone number, on screen or out loud.
- Record somewhere quiet with light in front of you, not behind you.
- Keep it under 2 minutes. The recorder stops on its own at 2:00.
What to say
- Who you are. "Hi, I'm [first name], a [grade] grader in P-TECH IT at Largo High School."
- What P-TECH IT is. One high school diploma and one college degree (an Associate of Applied Science from Prince George's Community College), at no cost to your family.
- What it's like. Taking real college classes in high school. Pick one class or moment you're proud of.
- Your pathway. Networking, Cybersecurity, Database Management, Computer Science/Programming or Systems Administration: which one you chose or are thinking about, and why.
- Certifications. The CompTIA certifications you are working toward, starting with Tech+ in 9th grade.
- Advice for an 8th grader. One sentence: why they should apply.
You can say the program used to be called TalentReady if it helps people recognize it.
